4-Week Fishing Odyssey -Chile & Argentina -Updated!

This winter, Fly Fishing Patagonia will be visiting five carefully chosen lodges, each during their prime time. We welcome adventurous anglers to join but space is quite limited. Out of all the lodges we represent, we chose these specific programs for the emphasis on Brown Trout, the opportunities of bigger fish and the jaw-dropping scenery. Also, travel times  between destinations are minimal.  But there’s more to it than that. Read WHY we personally chose each of these properties to visit this 2024.

The original itinerary included 5 lodges but we recently added two more to take advantage of fall and go after more Browns. At the very bottom, you’ll see these two lodges we added.

TROUT ODYSSEY EXTENTED- Quemquemtreu & Limay River Ranch

Mar 25-29   Quemquemtreu
Mar 30-Apr 4   Limay River Ranch

Our trip has been extended to make the most of the legendary Patagonia Brown Trout fishing that occurs in the fall. We’ll make a brief stop at Estancia Quemquemtreu to fish the renowned Collon Cura River when water levels are low, and the fish are densely concentrated, voraciously feeding on hoppers. Rainbows are abundant as well, but the temptation of fishing for these hungry Browns from the boat or gravel bars is simply irresistible. For those interested in hunting, this is also the prime time for Red Stag during their rut.

On March 30th, we will head southeast to the Limay River Ranch. This new lodge boasts extensive private access to the braided Middle Limay River. This tailwater location stands out as the best spot in all of central and northern Patagonia to pursue Brown Trout exceeding 23 inches with dry flies and to have the highest chances of encountering Browns up to 30 inches. These sizable Browns typically originate from the Chocon Reservoir downstream of the lodge but are a presence throughout the season.  In the fall, they are more numerous.

If the dates of March 25th to April 4th align with your travel plans, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for further details. We have only four spots left, and it promises to be an exceptional experience.
