We had some very good friends and some new guests fish with us this week at EMB. Fishing was great this week and we all had a lot of fun. The river is in excellent condition, low and clear water. 140 fish landed this week. 40 over 15 pounds, 5 of them were over 20 pounds.
Our top rod this week was the spey casting rookie Lucy Mahon with 21 fish in the net.
Tad True landed the fish of the week: 21.5 pounds.

Water Conditions:
Water color and visibility: Very clear water and good visibility
Water temperature: 45°F to 54°F
Water level: River dropped 2 inches during the week

Weather Conditions
Wind speed: Windy during the day and dropping by the evenings. On Wednesday afternoon wind increased to 50 mph.
Air temperatures: 41°F to 71°F

Fishing Conditions:
Flies that are working the best: Mostly nymphs: EMB, Red Butt, Tdf Prince, Pepe Prince. Also some other nymphs in smaller hooks (hare´s ear, copper john), Black wooly buggers, Yuk Bug, Tdf taxi, intruders, leeches, monkeys.
We had some action fishing floating lines and sunray shadows (2 to 4 inches long).

Fly lines:
Heavy tips. T-11, T-14, T-17 and T-20 in different lengths. To fish on top a great option are the Scandi heads. When we have to throw T´s a Skagit head is the best option.
Length and strength of tippet and leaders:
4 to 14 feet, 12 to 20 pounds

Fish Catch Statistics:
Number of anglers for the week: 12
Total number of fish landed for the week: 140
Weight of the biggest fish landed: 21.5 pounds.
Number of fish landed over 15 pounds: 40
Number of fish landed over 20 pounds: 5

Notable Catches:
Tad True landed a 21.5 pounder.
Jenn True landed a 20.5 pounder.
Keith Fritschen landed a 20 pounder.
Wayne Henschke landed a 20 pounder.
Beth Burnswick landed a 20.5 pounder.

We experienced many changes in the weather this week and the fishing was a bit slower for us, with, 93 fish landed, 26 fish over 15 pounds, 2 over 20, Average weight was 9 pounds. Sinking lines worked the best for us, striping tube flies, mostly (Sunray Shadows).
Top rod of the week was Michael Graham with 24 fish to the net, the biggest 17 pounds.
Paul Fry landed the biggest of the week, a 22 pounder.

Water Conditions:
Water color and visibility: Very clear water.
Water temperature: 6° to 12° Celsius (43° – 54° Fahrenheit)
Water level: The river is in great shape and water level is perfect.

Weather Conditions:
Wind speed: The wind was changing all week, blowing from the east, north, and west. On Thursday the wind was really strong.
Air temperature ranges: 6° to 22° Celsius (43° – 72° Fahrenheit) some cold days cold and warm days.

Weather Observations:
The wing blew really strong on Thursday.

Fishing Conditions:
Flies that are working the best: Nymphs: Emb’s Wonder Bug, Aurelia Prince, Prince Nymph, Rubber legs nymphs. Different sizes of sunray shadows. Big flies for the last hour: big tube flies. The Sunray Shadow and Emb Nymph were the best flies of the week, fished on sinking lines.

Fly Lines:
Skagit heads with different lengths of T-17, T-14 and T-11. Scandi heads with poly leaders worked pretty good as well. Floating lines didn’t work well this last week.

Length and strength of tippet and leaders:
7 to 14 foot leaders and tippets in strengths 12 to 19 pounds.
Most of the fish were in the lower and middle part of the river. The upper beats did not produce well for us this week.

Jim Rossbach landed 6 fish on Monday morning, to 12 pounds.
