River conditions: The River is in excellent conditions, clear and low water, and dropping a little every day. The clear water let us fish with very small nymphs. Water temperature ranged between 45° F and 61° F. The fishing improved a lot when the water warmed up a few degrees.
Weather: This week we had some very windy days, wind speeds up to 50 miles per hour. Air temperature was between 42° F and 72° F.
Lines: Skagit lines with 10´, 12´and 15´ of T-14 and T-17 and 10´of T-11. Scandi lines and poly-leaders or versi-leaders work very well when we want to fish close to the surface. In some of the pools floating lines and a Sunray Shadow worked well.
Flies: Nymphs were the flies of the week. Red Tail, EMB, TDF prince, Aurelia prince and some chartreuse nymphs were the best. Also black and olive wooly buggers worked well on windy days. For the last hour of the day big leeches, intruders or tube flies did the job.
The average weight of sea-trout landed improved this week to 9.2 pounds. 14 fish were over 15 pounds and one of 20 pounds.
Our top rod was Ricky Behrend with 23 fish landed!
Luis San Miguel caught a 20 pounder. Terry Huges a 19 ponder and Matt Long another 19 ponder.
